Questions & Answers
Everything clients ask us — answered plainly
If your question isn't here, ask us directly. Straight answers are part of the service.
What does an event planner actually do — and do I need one?
A planner turns your vision into a managed production: design, venue, vendor contracts, budget stewardship, timelines, and on-the-day direction. If your event matters enough that you'd rather experience it than administer it, you need one. Most clients find we save them 100+ hours and meaningful money through vendor negotiation.
What areas do you serve?
We're headquartered in Hartford and serve all of Connecticut — with deep venue knowledge in Hartford, West Hartford, Farmington, Avon, Simsbury, Glastonbury, Wethersfield, Rocky Hill, New Britain, and Middletown. We also take select events in New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
How much do your services cost?
Day-of coordination typically starts around $2,500; partial planning around $5,500; full-service wedding planning is generally 12–18% of total budget; corporate and private events are quoted by scope. Every proposal is itemized and fixed before we begin — no surprises.
How far in advance should I book?
Weddings: 10–14 months for full service. Corporate events: 4–6 months (longer for 200+ guests). Private celebrations: 3–5 months. Shorter timelines are often possible — ask; we love a beautiful sprint.
Do you only do luxury events? What if my budget is modest?
Luxury is a standard of care, not a price tag. We've created stunning events at a wide range of budgets — what we don't do is cut corners that guests can feel. In your consultation we'll tell you honestly what your budget can achieve.
Do you handle multicultural, religious, and church events?
Yes — it's a founding strength. Haitian and Caribbean celebrations, church conferences, pastoral anniversaries, interfaith weddings, prayer breakfasts, and cultural traditions of every kind are planned with respect and fluency.
Can we hire you for just day-of coordination?
Yes. Our day-of (really month-of) coordination begins 6–8 weeks out: we absorb your plans, build the master timeline, confirm all vendors, and run the day so you don't have to.
Do you work with our own vendors or only yours?
Both. We have a vetted network we trust with our name, but we happily work with vendors you love — we'll simply hold them to the same production standard.
Are you insured?
Yes. Venū Co. carries event liability insurance and provides certificates of insurance to venues on request.
How do payments work?
A signed agreement and retainer reserve your date; the balance follows a milestone schedule outlined in your proposal. We accept cards, ACH, and checks. Vendor payments are scheduled and tracked for you.
What happens if it rains — or something goes wrong?
Every Venū event carries a written contingency plan: weather calls with decision deadlines, backup vendors on standby, and an on-site kit that has rescued more than one hem, heel, and PA system. Problems are our job; you'll usually never know they happened.
